In my role as an Employment Advisor, one of the important components of the EAP program funded by Service Canada is being able to identify and understand the unique differences that exists amongst individuals and their needs. I then provide individualized coaching and pre-employment training to bridge the gap between barriers to employment by encouraging workplace diversity amongst employers looking to fulfill their hiring needs, as well as providing accommodations and ongoing support.

I’ve worked with the YJC program when it first launched with the organization back in 2015. This program has allowed me to gain valuable project management experience in a diversified role. To ensure all phases of the program were running smoothly, I contributed to creating a platform for future program success.I developed and managed community and employer partnerships, as well as developed job leads, and created positions through subsidy support from the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities. In this role, I was also able to coach individuals to ensure the “right fit” for both clients and employment partnerships, created public awareness, facilitated workshops, organized and held massive job fairs, recruited individuals, and exceeded quarterly targets by placing 100s of youth clients (ages 18-29) into meaningful positions to retain talent.

• Supported branch operations by pre-screening potential applicants on Workopolis, booking interviews, conducting reference checks, and assisting clients to meet organizational needs• Processed direct deposits and manages high volumes of payroll (150+ time cards) weekly• Liaising with head office to ensure all payroll, ROEs, T4s, and billings are processed in a timely and efficient manner• Conducted workplace health and safety checks and updates WSIB• Builds and generates client leads through employee references and referrals• Administered and updated registration for candidates, while insuring accuracy of information and entering them into system

Created a marketing campaign with a team of 4 to raise awareness amongst small business owners and their duty to comply with the AODA. This project also required us to conduct research through communicating with a sample of small businesses in the community and developing a marketing strategy that consisted of resources for outreach.
