Prepared section to deploy to tactical environments; responsible for the individuals of my section and their collective training; responsible for the accountability and maintenance of all assigned equipment; ensures the combat readiness of the section to accomplish the platoon mission; responsible for the health and welfare of 10 or more section members and their families; responsible for equipment in excess of 1 million dollars. Worked positions that were 2 pay grades above my own, multiple times.

Supervises and plans the work of assigned staff. Completes administrative paperwork, the preparation and maintenance of records, forms, and reports. Develops work and security procedures. Enforces rules, regulations, and state laws necessary for control and management of youth offenders and the maintenance of public safety. Inspects, inventories, maintains physical control of, logs keys, tools, weapons and related equipment. Maintains knowledge of, comply with, and enforce all policies, rules, procedures, and regulations. Maintains order, discipline, and security within assigned areas in accordance with relevant rules, regulations, policies, and laws. May conduct hearings of disciplinary infractions. Observes conduct and behavior of youth offenders to prevent disturbances and escapes. Provides support in training, selecting, and orienting subordinate correctional security staff. Reads and reviews youth offender information to identify issues that require special attention. Responds to emergencies.

Lead Program Coordinator for the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice Basic Juvenile Probation Officer Training (BJPOT), and Basic Community Services Training (BCST) courses.

Responsible for the instruction of students in basic, advanced and specialized classes, courses, seminars and workshops. Utilizes diverse instructional methods based upon proven adult learning principles while presenting and incorporating classroom and practical, scenario-based performance outcome training programs. Coordinates records concerning instructional activities and personnel matters that relate to Department of Juvenile Justice Programs. Maintains a general knowledge of all areas of law enforcement to provide assistance to other instructors in the presentation of their assigned areas of instruction.

Beyond providing safety and security for the correctional facility, also transport inmates to and from activities and act as a group leader. Also, facilitate group discussions, providing counsel and working with professionals on treatment for juvenile offenders. As well as dealing with High-Intensity Behavioral Mental Health Youth on a daily basis.
