Green Infrastructure Partners is one of Canada’s largest General Contractors with over $1.8B in Revenue and 4500 employees across Canada. ✳ Reporting to the board of directors and investors, my mandate in this role was to integrate the GFL Infrastructure Group and Coco Paving to produce a 4500-member workforce while right-sizing the operations and combining the best of each business. ✳ Led P&L, finance, and operations functions while driving business growth nationally with a strategic focus on building a risk-mitigated occupational safety program that garnered an industry nomination for “CEO of the Year” by Canada’s Safest Employers.✳ Built and developed processes and procedures for new GIP business, reviewed best practices from all business within M&A portfolio, chose best processes and procedures, and applied them to new GIP Business. ✳ Recruited and selected the executive team for the newly integrated business using internal and external recruiting resources to form the best management team in the industry. The cultural fit, experience, and professional track record of each candidate were carefully evaluated during the process.

In this role, my mandate was to develop and execute the business plan for a new division within GFL Environmental which was branded as the GFL Infrastructure Group. Established the business from ideation to execution including value proposition, strategic planning, capital planning—everything required to execute a robust market launch in a highly competitive and mature industry.✳ Assumed the full P&L for the division across Canada, including organic and M&A growth initiatives for the division. ✳ Built an industry-leading Health and Safety Program within the Specialty Trade segment of the Canadian Construction Industry. The program included (standard operating procedures) SOPs for the array of service offerings that GFLI performed, including a full digital track tool that took a “Field In” approach to ensure the data was updated in real-time and remedial actions could be taken. The national program earned a respected position in the industry and qualified as COR and ISO45001 certified. ✳ Streamlined the existing strategy for assets under management (AUM) to increase return on Capital (ROC), including a companywide review of assets that resulted in redundant and/or underutilized assets being sold and the fleet being replenished with new assets that were higher utilized leading to a significant efficiency result at the site level.

Clearway specializes in sewer and water main construction, shoring, road reconstruction, concrete forming, dry utilities, marine, brownfield rehabilitation, treatment plant, and pumping station work. Additionally, Clearway operates in a residential land development and building division in the hospitality sector. My remit included standardizing the business processes, project delivery model, and business development to expand the market footprint for a nationwide company of 400 employees. ✳ P&L responsibility for construction business Canada-wide. Responsible for operations, estimating, project management, shop repairs and maintenance, manufacturing, health, safety environment, and business development. ✳ Grew revenue outside of the municipal construction market by launching a countrywide business development campaign to increase the visibility of Clearway business with general contractors and construction managers.✳ Repositioned the national health and safety program in only 18 months, a highly complex project that became a construction industry benchmark. The company earned a position as an industry leader in safety in the watermain and sewer construction sector.✳ Increased exposure of business with some of Canada’s largest construction managers and General contractors, including Ellis Don, PCL, Pomerleau, Graham, and Kenaidan, leading to a significant increase in revenues in under 24 months. Achieved an attractive position on the bid list for most of the blue-chip General Contractor and Construction Management companies across Canada. ✳ Expanded the company’s service offerings into dry utilities by establishing a customized business plan and recruiting strategy to attract skilled professionals into the business.
