I enrolled in the Danish armed forces voluntarily and was after completing military service encouragedto apply for further training as sergeant.As a sergeant the job primarily involves leading and guiding others throughout the daily military tasks aswell as being squad leader in combat. I was responsible for the training of young people who volunteered for military service which was four months of basic training. During this training period the focus is to establish if the armed forces is a career path suitable for them.After showing the ability to train these volunteers adequately, I had the chance to move on to training contractual soldiers which is 8 months of rigorous training.The tasks consist of logistics and planning of the training in military tasks up to 3 weeks in advance as well as the training on a dailybasis. The training includes military combat training in multiple environments as well as survival skills in the field through exercises as closeto reality as possible.There will be monitoring of the psychological adaptation to changing situations in a stressing environment and reading the personal profile of each soldier is essential for furtherimprovement and training.After completing operation exercises in action, review and feedback towards the command chain is of great importance.I’ve now served two years as a sergeant in the Danish army mainly with a focus on the education ofcontractual soldiers.My work as a sergeant has given me a lot of experience with responsibility, team leadership, theimportance of being organized, as well as leading and motivating people with completely differentbackgrounds and values and getting them to work towards a common goal. My military training hasdeveloped my adaption to readiness since each day tends to arise a lot of unpredictable changes, which require improvising in stressful situations.

Leo Innovation Lab (ILAB) was a subsidiary project to LEO Pharma, who develops digitizing tools todiagnose skin disease as well as IT solutions for more effective completion of clinical trials throughmachine learning and Artificial Intelligence. The project is competing with cutting edge corporationssuch as Google.I worked in an international team, whose job was to develop apps, which had the ability to diagnoseprimarily Psoriasis. The team consisted of programmers and app developers who all had Bachelors/PHDor master’s in software development, machine learning and AI.My job was to create a database that was structured into binary code and contained more than 30.000pictures, which all were categorized into body parts and would give the AI learning algorithms the abilityto predict which body parts there were in each image. This app would be able to help doctors diagnoseskin diseases more accurately with marginally less misdiagnosis.Furthermore, I learned to utilize different IT tools to complete a variety of ad hoc tasks among things likeFeedback on new apps´ user interface. Throughout my time at ILAB I acquired insight into the workculture in a digital development environment, which was incredibly inspiring and exciting.

I was given a unique opportunity to complete an internship at the Danish corporation SONION at theirmanufacturing and development facilities in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where I stayed a month in HRand a month in (CIM). Continuous ImprovementIn HR, I was responsible for planning and facilitating an onboarding program for the new engineersemployed in the company.In the CIM team I was introduced to the Kaizen/LEAN manufacturing method. I participated in Kaizenevents where I was responsible for documenting feedback from the participants and handling theprocess of approvals and rewards.As I was working in the teams during this internship, I got a good educational glance into a corporation´sprocesses and methods and how the same were used to optimize the production and development infactory facilities.Furthermore, the internship taught me how a corporation and team efforts are established in a culturevery different from my own and how to adapt accordingly.
