Hi! My name is Christian McGovern, recent WWU graduate with a Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary studies. My unique liberal arts-style education covered a wide breadth of disciplines, making it an excellent foundation for a variety of roles. With it I bring robust critical thinking and problem-solving skills, along with project management and teaching experience.I am a lifelong musician, and my dream job would marry my love of music with a broader engagement in humanities and helping people. My hope is that my academic record and achievements best serve as evidence of my unimpeachable work ethic. I was class Valedictorian in high school, with a 4.4 weighted GPA. After graduating, Western Washington University offered me a package of three merit-based scholarships totaling $44,000. Attending WWU, I maintained my perfect GPA, graduating with honors. But this is not the full story. Not included in my resume are my middle school grades — straight D’s and F’s. Along with adolescence came major depression, a disability that I grapple with to this day. Early in its onset, my depression affected my academic performance dramatically. While some had written me off, I was lucky enough to have a number of incredibly supportive and faithful teachers who inspired me to right the ship, persevere, and succeed in the face of adversity.My dream job would have me using my breadth of expertise in music, sound, and culture as a comprehensive foundation. As with my education, I seek to forge my own path, doing things outside of the established norm. My ideal employer would value my unique education and skillset, seeking not just who I am but what I can be.
