About Christian Orellana

In my 3+ years of experience in the game and animation industries, I've developed proficiencies in Unreal, Python, C+, and C#. My professional passions lie in player experience, gameplay programming, tool development, and technical art. I also thrive in tightly knit, interdisciplinary teams, I love working with others. As a Pipeline Technical Director at Steamroller Animation, I design, implement, and maintain tools for Unreal, Maya, and Shotgrid Toolkit. I also write and maintain code to build and enhance our proprietary pipeline. The result of these efforts has been tools across a variety of DDCs, written in Python, C++, and Unreal Blueprints, as well as services that run on a daily basis like, automating build processes and distributing updates to packages to our artists who need them.In my prior role, I worked as a game developer, working on AI, UI, game design, achievements, optimization, game feel, ux, and more.About my background: In school, I built a foundation with C and Java in my computer science education. Here, I cut my teeth on a variety of problems and developed some serious critical-thinking chops. Later experiences with game jams inspired me to commit to the Game Development major, where I cut my teeth with Unreal and Unity. Upon entering the industry, I worked with C# and Unity, culiminating with my work on Curse of the Deadwood. Once that wrapped up, I joined the Pipeline Team to create all sorts of tools to speed up our artists' workflows and build systems to seamlessly deliver tools/assets to those who need them.
