Joining shortly after the company's founding, I helped lead the effort to build GoVanguard into a distinguished IT and cybersecurity managed services provider that served numerous Fortune 1000 companies across a plethora of industries, including finance, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, energy, and utilities.My journey at GoVanguard started as a Senior Solutions Architect. Within my first year, I became a company partner and was promoted to Professional Services Manager and VP of Technology. In this role, I focused on architecting and operating network, storage, and compute infrastructure across multiple data centers and over 50 offices for the second-largest multi-specialty medical community in upstate New York.Key Responsibilities and Achievements:- Assisted in the implementation and management of the MPLS/VPLS network connectivity between company data centers, medical clinics, and regional partner hospitals.- Managed storage infrastructure spanning hundreds of terabytes, utilizing EMC VNX, EMC ExtremeIO, and NetApp FAS systems, servicing electronic medical record (EMR) environments and medical picture archival communication systems (PACS).- Architected and maintained the company's IT operations support system (Zenoss), which monitored thousands of network devices, servers, storage devices, and applications, collecting over one million data points every hour.- Developed several customizations and integrations for infrastructure orchestration, inventory management, data center environmental monitoring, and historical analytics.- Led the system and application architectural effort in implementing and operating the company's distributed electronic medical environment, containing several multi-terabyte OLTP databases and servicing 2000+ daily clinical users. - Managed the company VMWare vSphere virtualization infrastructure and Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop application delivery systems.- Provisioned and managed network infrastructure, including Cisco Nexus 5K/7K & Cisco ASR 1K/2K systems.- Managed multi-campus wireless LWAPP environments across 50+ locations using Cisco Aironet.- Regularly reported to the Director of EHR Services, providing technical direction for EMR business continuity management.- Served as a lead IT security advisor to the Chief Security Officer, assisting with continuous risk management, regular network penetration testing, and security operations management.- Received a distinguished employee award for high performance.

In this role, I led the day-to-day IT engineering operations across several colocation data centers for an industry-leading healthcare cloud services provider, including leading tier 3 triage efforts for the IT engineering team. Additionally, I served as the main escalation resource for handling cybersecurity threats from identification through containment to retrospective analysis.Key Responsibilities & Achievements Included:- Provisioned and managed network connectivity and security between distributed cloud infrastructure zones for over 500 clients, utilizing Cisco ASA/PIX, Vyatta, Cisco ISR and F5 Big IP network infrastructure.- Provisioned and managed hybrid virtualization infrastructure, including VMWare ESXi, Xen, and RHEV.Maintained server infrastructure with Windows Server (2003/2008/2008R2), RHEL, and Debian Linux.- Managed Nimble and FreeNAS storage infrastructure.- Maintained the XenApp application delivery platform.- Implemented web caching, shaping, and filtering solutions using Squid.- Architected, built, and maintained our centralized NOC monitoring infrastructure with Zenoss, including monitoring user experience and system logs and reporting on availability, capacity planning, and charge-back analysis.- Provisioned colocation data center deployments, enhancing the company’s infrastructure capabilities.- Created comprehensive IT systems documentation, standard operating procedures, and system maintenance procedures.- Implemented and migrated EMR, PM and HL7 interfaces for clients, including Allscripts MyWay, Pro EHR, Pro PM, TouchWorks EEHR, and Mirth.- Recognized for my hard work and dedication, earning the Employee of the Month award.

During this period, I provided IT systems and cybersecurity consulting services to numerous businesses in the NY capital region. My work spanned a wide range of activities, from installing low-voltage cabling to building and configuring network and server infrastructure. This process included conducting assessments of existing IT systems and providing strategic recommendations for improvements and upgrades.When upgrading or deploying new systems for businesses, I frequently implemented next-generation antivirus (AV) solutions, network intrusion prevention systems (usually Cisco ASAs or PFSense), security information and event management (SIEM) systems, and corporate single sign-on (SSO) authentication (AD NPS, Cisco ISE). These solutions played a crucial role in helping these businesses establish foundational defensive cybersecurity capabilities.

Serving as a Tier 3 Data Center Systems Engineer, my core focus was building and maintaining data center infrastructure, which encompassed UPS systems, fire control systems, Windows and Linux servers, network connectivity (primarily Cisco Catalyst 6500 cores), systems configuration, and network monitoring for Turnkey Internet. Turnkey Internet was a regional ISP and cloud services provider serving a large base of customers across upstate NY as well as several large international organizations. I helped establish and maintain our Network Operations Center (NOC), enhancing our monitoring and response capabilities. Furthermore, I leveraged my software development expertise to create new cloud services for customers including helping create one of the earliest automated virtual cloud desktop solutions for businesses in upstate NY during the pivotal time when medium-sized businesses started to shift towards public cloud environments.Lastly, I served as a Tier 3 escalation point for critical customer issues, ensuring high levels of service and reliability.

As a Freelance Software and Website Developer, I created various digital content, websites, and bespoke applications for a variety of businesses in the historically artistic region of Saratoga, NY. My portfolio included content creation for numerous prominent local, national, and international brands. Additionally, I developed bespoke software solutions tailored to help small businesses with inventory tracking and logistics management. My technical skill set primarily encompassed programming in C#, ASP.NET, ActionScript, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
