Ormazabal Velatia is a global company supplying specialised equipment for primary and secondary distribution including protection, intelligent monitoring and automation.Short term contract to add new functionality and finish firmware for a new low cost standalone monitoring device. Development included adding new functionality to a web based UI incorporating HTML, Javascript, C and *nix shell programming for an embedded uClinux target environment.Achievements:• Brought unfinished and non-working project environment to a functional state.• Developed web based pages for easier installation in the field - improving significantly on the existing command line functionality.• Added swell functionality to complement existing sag only functions.

Short term contract to complete a specialised GPRS based power outage detection product interfacing between a standard commercial smart meter and modem. Also provided technical expertise on other existing projects and products.Responsibilites:• Took unfinished project taking it to a tested release state• Hardware and firmware bug fixing and fault finding• Over The Air (OTA) failsafe firmware upgrade implementation• Rewrote much of the firmware to overcome design and implementation issues within limited time constraints

As an IEC Meters Technical Leader my responsibilities extended from initial product requirements and specification developed with the customer and product manager, through all stages of the design process including final product validation/certification and release to manufacturing. My role was to provide engineering design guidance during all design stages of GE’s IEC range of electricity meters.
