I have been practicing law for thirty years, having joined the law firm (then known as Farrugia & Schembri) in 1988 after completing my post graduate studies in maritime and insurance law at University College London. I had graduated LLD from the University of Malta two years earlier. For the first years of my career, I worked in practically all aspects of the legal profession, from general civil and commercual law to family, real estate and trusts law.In 1994 I decided to dedicate more of my time to my firm’s corporate and maritime legal practice. I became active in the setting up and management of offshore companies and trusts under Malta's offshore regime and as a result, found myself at the time becomming more and more involved in corporate, estate planning and shipping matters than in any other branch of of the legal profession.In the year 2009, I joined forces with Dr Tonio Fenech and Fiott Advocates to form Fenech Farrugia Fiott Legal, a business and tax law firm which today services a growing portfolio of private and corporate clients operating in a variety of industries, including shipping and aviation, IP, real estate, construction gaming, blockchain and financial services.
