    Since January 2019 I am doing the management of Simultec AG. Together with the Simultec-Team I still work on different projects.In 2019 we won, together with Dr. von Moos and FiBL a competition for a research work about the possibilities of a sustainable irrigation at the Klettgau valley. The project is part of the pilot project "adaption to the climate change" of the swiss government. Flood prevention still keeps us busy. For a project at the Ilm river we can take the Hydrogeology part. As a member of an consortium we got involved with a revivalism project of the river Toess near Winterthur.

    Heat Transport Simulations And Flood Polders

    The use of groundwater heat is popular since 2010. After several small projects, we got the opportunity to build up a heat transport model of the Limmat valley. For this purpose, we developed the GEM-Tool which allows the automatic generation of embedded submodells in a browser application.2015 we won a competition for a groundwater model in the framework of two polders along the Danube river. A second model followed for the Danube section between Iller and Lech. 2017 we won the competition for the polder Bertoldsheim.

    During the build up of the groundwater model of the Thur valley, I developed methods to handle the interaction between rivers and the ground water. I introduced a time and wetting area depending leakage concept for the Thur and I developed a method to balance the groundwater flow along flow paths in a continuous flow field.Besides, I was busy with a information system for the Prairie Island Indian Comunity and developed models for the pollutant transport in the air and the electromagnetic radiation.In 2011 we won a competition from Nagra togetzer with Wasy and Böhruinger. I was responsible for the development of the regional hydrodynamic model of northern Switzerland. In 2012 I realized a groundwater model for the RHESI project at the Rhine valley.

    During a couple of years I contibuted a lot of work to the cadastre of the contaminated sites of the canton Zurich. Because there was a lack of projects in groundwater simulation I reduced my work time and followed an advanced study in software engineering.

    The Begin Of Internet Era

    In 1996 I developed our first internet based groundwater information system. Since then, the system was continuously improved, in 2001 I added an interactive map in Java. At that time I also realized an information system for Comibit SA, a production plant for bituminous road pavements. Besides I was busy with a groundwater model for a hasardous waste site in Kölliken.

    The first five years at Simultec I mainly built up groundwater models for chemical plant sites along the Rhine (Hitdorf-Monheim, Düsseldorf) and in the former GDR. We were coding Fortran on main frame computers. Later we bought IRIX workstations to build up geological models with the Earth Vision code. In 1998 we founded the GIGA Sagl company at Lugano to execute mandates for the NEAT tunnel projects.
