Shifting the hotel from a focus on history to a focus on chic, sexy urban experience not only resulted in an entirely different feel throughout the property's offerings, it set revenue records. The Andaluz became the place to see and be seen.This was achieved via a paradigm shift in thinking: Instead of a hotel with dining and some light entertainment, it was reimagined as a dining and entertainment center that had guest rooms attached. Food, beverage, and entertainment were all crafted within this marketing-led framework and the result was outstanding. The Andaluz became the place to be for Hollywood A-listers and the Who's Who of New Mexico society.

It's a challenge to take a rather bland 90's corporate hotel and turn it into a lively, thriving urban destination, but it's certainly possible. While this hotel's emphasis had to remain on business and group travel, the challenge was how to consistently maximize revenues in during weaker demand periods, namely weekends or between large meetings.Inspired by the hotel's under-utilized lobby space and closed lobby bar, a weekend 30's dinner club concept was initiated, combined with a new bar concept centered around classic black and white movies. The result brought life to a hotel that had been completely quiet on weekends as new guests poured in. Stylized communications also put the hotel on the map for a large number of people who had previously had little conscious knowledge of it, successfully adding not only food and beverage revenue, but occupancy as well.
