First I'm going to start with a little background for our Floatie team and the unique circumstances it faced. When our team of 8 full time students took on the task of organizing a conference to connect students from all over the state of Florida we were extremely excited. To complete that task in 4 months was a completely different question. Having a remote team spread across the state at different universities only added to this deadline. With only time to meet via video chat twice a week for 1 hour, most of the work was done on Slack. Christian took it upon himself to ensure that we were able to complete all tasks needed and that those tasks were on time. He held us to a strict agenda and purposeful meetings that allowed for efficient use of our limited time in video conferences. Keeping track of individual tasks using a Slackbot and following up with team members on their status was also a key to our success. Overall, Christian did an amazing job at managing our team and understanding the entire process as well as the product we were trying to create. This broad understanding and diligence to allowing each team member to stay focused on small tasks while the bigger conference came together was what made our conference a success. It was the team's first time working remotely for this large of a project and Christian navigated the new workflow like a seasoned professional.
