A recent client wished to compare schools’ academic performance on standardized tests based on the demographic characteristics of every school in the nation. The challenge was that, after extensive outreach, I learned that state-wide school attendance boundary data, which was necessary to create the demographic profiles, was only available for three states. To overcome that problem, I developed a methodology that accurately reverse-engineered school attendance boundaries for all 120,000+ public schools in the United States. Using the three states’ data as a control group to test validity, I researched existing districting software solutions and generated new school attendance boundaries with ArcGIS’ spatial analysis tools and demographic profiles for those boundaries using SQL queries and SPSS. The most effective methodology utilized a weighted Voronoi algorithm. The work was presented at the American Educational Research Association, 2009 Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA.

Trained AirPhotoUSA’s staff on the production of digital ortho photomosaics. Provided training, documentation, database development, and R&D services, ultimately achieving a 600% productivity increase. Implemented NSSDA accuracy standards and FGDC metadata compliance. Wrote technical portions of proposals for government contracts totaling $20 million. Built Value Added Reseller database. Sales increase 70% in first 2 months after implementation. I pioneered the processes that created the off-the-shelf digital aerial photography products which became Google Earth.
