About Christian Schmitz

I started my career in the agrochemicals divisions of Bayer and BASF becoming a rice crop expert. While holding numerous global and local management positions my work on high level development projects brought me to almost every rice producing country in the world. Visiting local farmer communities and research facilities in developing and developed countries gave me a thorough image of all facets of rice production. After ten years in the agrochemicals business, I became marketing director for Henkel and Japan country manager for the German furniture brand hülsta. Since 2009, I am managing my own boutique consulting firm Aventa providing services for international and Japanese corporations. I also co founded the social media venture Quchy and invested in two startups by myself. After two years with the World Innovations Forum as co founding member and Japan ambassador, I founded the Purpose Driven Innovation Ecosystem = PDIE Group in 2019. This organization is aiming to build a global innovation ecosystem for change makers in the sustainability space to scale best in class solutions from local to global markets. After starting a global, digital trading platform for rice called Rice Exchange, we created a holding company for trading food and agricultural commodities from soy beans over grains to coffee. I am an outgoing entrepreneur with focus on marketing and strategy with 10 years of strategic as well as operative management experience in multinational companies and 10 years as entrepreneur. In depth knowledge of Japanese business practices and excellent Japanese language skills. Hands on management experience in operations, finance, logistics, and personnel management. My passion is to change the world by innovation and to help people to succeed with their goals.
