Vice Chairman

Providing organizational leadership for Church and Society’s “Advocates for Justice” initiative, aiming to support, equip, organize and mobilize United Methodists in the Central and North Texas Annual Conference areas in their aims to identify key social issues impacting communities and growing skills and capacity to address the ongoing work of justice and peace. In this capacity, my interest in faith and public witness and the desire to faithfully link public policy efforts with local grassroots mobilization through The UMC on social issues is amplified.

• Active with the LiveFree, Voter Engagement and LaRED campaigns; working to end mass incarceration, cash bail, gun violence, and immigration injustices in Texas, and working to increase voter education and exercise in Dallas’ southern sector.• Collaborating to identify systemic problems that affect our communities, and moving associated local congregations to action through powerful policy campaigns, deep listening and research.

The primary function of the Fraternity House Director (FHD) is to provide leadership in community development, community standards, and administration, by supervising 2-3 fraternity houses as a live-in staff member.ResponsibilitiesCommunity Development· Provide meaningful educational and/or community-building programming to support students’ growth and development· Be visible and accessible to address residents’ needs or concerns and to foster appropriate relationships with your residents.· Maintain community standards through education, communication, and documentation.· Consult with professional staff members on conduct action as appropriate.· Act as a positive role model for both fellow staff members and residents by following all SMU policies and applicable laws and avoiding unethical behavior.· Support Divisional programs and events such as Homecoming, Greek recruitment, Sing Song, and others as directed.Administration· Facilitate the check in, check out, room inspections, and damage billing processes.· Monitor the physical integrity of the space and report and follow-up on maintenance concerns.· Attend weekly staff meetings. · Meet regularly with supervisor.· Meet regularly with Chapter leaders, specifically the Chapter President and House Manager.· Attend training in August 2016.Community Standards· Report alleged violations of laws and/or university policy.· Be knowledgeable of university resources and policies and provide appropriate referrals.· Participate in on-call duty rotation.o FHDs serve in an on-call rotation that covers all nine SMU-owned fraternity houseso On-call duties include making rounds, addressing lockouts, and responding to emergencieso FHDs are on-call for a week at a time, every fourth week· Communicate and collaborate with Greek life staff members on pertinent resident and Chapter concerns.

Three-way internship with the North Texas Annual Conference of The UMC’s Center for Missional Outreach, Warren UMC, and the Dallas Bethlehem Center. • Sunday pastoral presence and service leadership.• 1st and 2nd Wednesday homeless persons feeding pastoral overseer.• DBC biweekly Bible Study instructor.• DBC event graphic designer and Warren UMC social media/Facebook profile co-manager.• Zip Code Connection (Center for Missional Outreach) neighborhood relationship/partnership coordinatorwith South Dallas area churches, faith coalitions and community organizations.• And other duties as assigned and called.

Administrative and organizational support, assisting in efforts to increase education and engagement in the South Dallas community with regards to AIDS/HIV.

In the spirit of the mission of Project Transformation, House Pastors are responsible for the planning, coordination, and facilitation of all activities related to the community living experience for summer interns.ACCOUNTABILITY: House Pastors are directly accountable to the Program Manager. 1. Instill a nurturing, supportive environment at the intern houses2. Facilitate intern-led Tuesday night Bible study and Thursday night worship services3. Oversee morning gatherings4. Praise & Worship Team oversight and direction5. Greeting and thanking dinner volunteers6. Negotiate and resolve house issues and supervise residents of intern houses7. Provide assistance at program sites8. Maintain open communication with the PT Office and Other House Pastors9. Plan summer social calendar10. Lead efforts in summer picture taking
