Each Knight-Hennessy scholar receives up to three years of financial support to pursue graduate studies at Stanford while engaging in experiences that prepare them to be visionary, courageous, and collaborative leaders who address complex challenges facing the world.

The Obama Foundation’s Leaders programs aim to inspire, empower and connect regional cohorts of changemakers to accelerate positive and lasting change in their communities and throughout their regions. The application reviewers represent a diversity of backgrounds, identities, and professional experiences and select a cohort of Leaders representing the rich diversity of talented changemakers in the region.Leaders USA builds upon the Foundation’s work over the past five years to support values-driven changemakers. The program offers 100 US-based leaders the opportunity to learn new skills and tools to accelerate positive and lasting change in their communities. The program focuses on emerging Leaders, 24-45 years old, who aim to drive systems-level change across sectors and issues, and have at least three years of demonstrated impact. Participants are values-driven leaders from every corner of the nation who are ready to expand their impact and help strengthen our national culture of democracy.The inaugural cohort of United States “Obama Leaders” is composed of values-driven changemakers from every corner of the country. Hailing from 37 states; Washington, D.C.; American Samoa; Guam; and five tribal nations, these Obama Leaders are united by their passion for building a stronger, more sustainable, and more inclusive world.The Leaders USA program offers participants a unique and comprehensive experience, including a values-driven leadership curriculum, action labs focused on strengthening democratic institutions and culture in the U.S., community groups for fostering constructive dialogue in a polarized environment, and one-on-one support to help tackle some of the most pressing issues of our time. Throughout the program, participants will have the opportunity to engage with President Obama, leadership coaches, subject matter experts, and each other to deepen their leadership practice.

Designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders, Schwarzman Scholars is the first scholarship created to respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st Century. Whether in politics, business or science, the success of future leaders around the world will depend upon an understanding of China’s role in global trends.With the inaugural class enrolled in 2016, the program gives the world’s best and brightest students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and professional networks through a one-year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing – one of China’s most prestigious universities. Students pursue a Masters in Global Affairs, with concentrations in one of the disciplines: Public Policy, Economics, and Business, International Studies. Students spend a year immersed in an international community of thinkers, innovators and senior leaders in business, politics, and society. In an environment of intellectual engagement, professional development, and cultural exchange, they learn from one another and pursue their academic disciplines while building their leadership capacities. This experience will expand students’ understanding of the world and create a growing network of global leaders for the future.As a member of the Schwarzman Scholars Admissions team, I help execute a world-class admissions process, designed to select the next generation of young leaders from around the world for an unparalleled introduction to China. As an Outreach and Selection Officer, I cultivate recruiting relationships with the world’s leading universities, colleges, and networks of young professionals and young leaders by implement high-level outreach events and generate new ideas for sources of Scholars. I collaborate with an incredible group of colleagues and help manage a goal-oriented and thorough selection processes that produce Scholars with the potential to be the next generation of leaders around the world.

- Review 500-800 UCLA domestic and international applications for annual admissions cycle - Recommend individuals for admission to UCLA to help recruit a diverse and dynamic freshman class - Represent UCLA at college fairs & info sessions in Asia as alumnus to share personal experiences- Complete annual certification in UCLA Admissions Reader training to get updated on current admissions policies

- Part of the global IIE project team that implements outreach and selection activities for Schwarzman Scholars (www.schwarzmanscholars.org) - Responsible for outreach and recruitment of prospective applicants in the United States and Canada - Support selection activities in region, including planning and coordinating external committees - Documenting finalist identification and reporting to the Global Outreach Lead on selection outcomes - Cultivating prospective student relationships, convincingly and professionally representing this opportunity, implementing high-level outreach events and activities, and managing thorough and transparent selection processes are central to this position- Team member of a global team, with central coordination and leadership from a New York-based senior project team- Provide additional support for various corporate programs selection process including General Electric, Chubb, Rolex, etc.

One of division’s major initiatives is Generation Study Abroad, a five-year initiative to mobilize resources and commitments with the goal of doubling the number of U.S. students studying abroad by the end of the decade. The initiative highlights IIE's commitment to study abroad and encourages purposeful, innovative action to get more Americans to undertake a meaningful international experience through academic study abroad programs, as well as internships, service learning, and non-credit educational experiences.Internship Scope of Work: The intern will be involved in the coordination of daily activities of Generation Study Abroad. The intern will be trained to assist with website & social media updates, research and writing content, tracking and evaluation, and helping with event planning for the IIE Summit on Generation Study Abroad later in 2015. The intern will interact with IIE staff across different divisions and various members of the IIE Initiatives team.
