As a Biomaterials researcher in Materials Engineering at the University of British Columbia, I specialize in bio-mineralization, materials analysis, osteoporosis, and anti-resorption drug delivery studies. Through collaboration with the Materials Engineering Department, Chemistry Department, and the Vancouver Prostate Cancer Centre, my research efforts have resulted in a bone resorption evaluation platform for osteoporosis treatment in vitro. I investigated bone cell proliferation on bio-mineralized electrospinning titanium fibers during my Master's in Biomedical Engineering. With a multidisciplinary background, I strive to develop new materials for bone formation and resorption studies.In addition to my academic pursuits, I have experience teaching and tutoring undergraduates on materials microstructural analysis using SEM, EDX, XRD, and optical microscopy."

Postdoctoral Research FellowVancouver Prostate Centre Jan 2024 - Present• Histology– Embedded 60 formalin-fixed tumor samples with paraffin. Prepared histologic slides using a Leica microtome.Performed both H&E staining and IHC staining for these specimens. Imaged them with the optical microscope. The results showed how human prostate cancer cell growth in mice.– Sectioned 98 formalin fixed paraffin embedded human bone samples with the microtome. Completed H&E staining and IHC staining, imaged all specimens, and documented them. Analyzed different types of bone metastasis due to prostate cancer based on the images.• Tissue Culture and Immunofluorescence– Studied human primary fibroblast calcium channels under the influence of cobalt ions using immunofluorescence. The results provided imaging evidence of mitochondria failure of the fibroblasts.– Learned q-PCR analysis of human primary fibroblasts. -
Doctoral ResearcherThe University Of British Columbia Sep 2012 - May 2023My research included the following areas:• Designed a novel ammonia-induced mineralization coating on cell culture insert and characterized the coating• Developed protocol for osteoclast culture and resorption evaluation on ammonia-induced mineralization coating• Performed bisphosphonate delivery through ammonia-induced mineralized cell culture insert and studied its effects on osteoclastic resorption activity• Investigated the effect of prostate cancer cell-conditioned medium on osteoclastic resorption activity based on ammonia-induced mineralized cell culture insert• Systematically investigated the evaporation-induced surface crystallization for bio-mineralizationThis innovative work led to the creation of a robust bio-mineralized coating protocol. The versatility and reliability of this coating make it a valuable tool for osteoclastic resorption evaluation, anti-resorption drug delivery, and bone metastases study in vitro. -
