-Provide strategic leadership in the areas of educational research, teacher preparation, and workforce development-Lead the Research and Evaluation task of the COVID Recovery Instructional Materials Support Initiative (CRIMSI) project for the Texas Education Agency in Partnership with TNTP-Guide research team in creating research plans, developing data collection tools, analyzing data, and reporting results in a clear and compelling manner-Develop processes and protocols for collecting and analyzing large datasets from the Texas Education Agency, local education agencies, and educator preparation programs-Conduct applied research for clients such as the Texas Education Agency, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Houston Endowment, El Paso Community Foundation, Charles Butt Foundation, and Educate Texas-Write proposals for projects related to applied educational research, strategic planning, educator communities of practice, and teacher preparation

-Design innovative programming to meet the needs of educator candidates, K-12 schools, and the community-Design novice teacher mentorship program including selecting, training, and pairing mentors-Secure grant funding to launch and sustain innovative programs-Direct the activities of faculty and staff within the 4+1 TEACH program, acting as the liaison between the program and the US Department of Education-Design and gain approval for new teacher preparation curriculum and degree plans-Develop and evaluate the program’s goals and ensure alignment with the college’s strategic plan-Evaluate program activities including designing the program evaluation plan, overseeing data collection and analysis, and writing evaluation reports-Develop, review, and approve changes to $18.6 million federal grant budget, overseeing the allocation of funds and revising staffing to meet program needs-Establish partnerships with local school districts, professional development providers, and purchasing agents, creating and executing memoranda of understanding as needed

-Implement curriculum, design activities, and select resources to meet course objectives and goals-Evaluate student performance and make modifications to instructional activities to ensure students gain the requisite knowledge and skills-Courses taught: Methods of Research; Evaluation for Instructional Leaders; Program Evaluation for School Improvement; Program Evaluation in Education; Policy and Ethics for Educational Leaders

-Analyze proposed educational policy and advise faculty, staff, and administrators of policy implications-Develop institutional positions regarding impact of proposed legislation or rules and provide testimony at hearings, committee meetings, and legislative meetings-Ensure compliance with Texas Education Agency, State Board for Educator Certification, State Board of Education, Sam Houston State University, and College of Education rules, policies, and guidelines-Create internal guidelines and procedures to guide the daily operations of the College of Education-Coordinate reporting and procedures for Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), Specialized Professional Association, and Texas Education Agency (TEA) accreditations-Evaluate curricula to ensure alignment with state and national standards, recommending improvements as standards change or as data indicate necessity-Develop processes for data collection and analysis for accreditation and program improvement-Direct the use of online platforms to support the college’s data collection and professional development needs-Analyze data from the Texas Educational Research Center to advise state policy makers of areas for improvement in educator preparation and certification

-Apply research-based best practices to improve the content, sequence, and outcomes of the teaching and learning processes-Provide leadership in the formulation, implementation, and assessment of curriculum alignment processes-Develop, coordinate, evaluate, and monitor modifications of district assessment initiatives-Supervise curriculum experts and teachers and establish a communication network among teachers, campuses, and administrators-Communicate district Secondary English Language Arts curriculum, instructional practices, accomplishments, goals, and instructional initiatives to campuses, parents, and community and solicit their input on instructional issues
