    Senior Scientist
West Virginia High Technology Foundation 2009 - Jan 2011
Conducted surveillance/biometric system development, integration and testing as a member of the Advance Technology Group (ATG). The ATG's goal is to use current technology for biometric identification and surveillance in real world situations to push the development and improvement of these technologies. Our system, TAVI/WASA (Tactical Analysis of Video Imagery/Wide Area Surveillance Analysis), is funded by the Office of Naval Research (ONR). This system was selected to take part in the U.S. Joint Forces Command's (USJFCOM) Empire Challenge (EC) 2010 in August 2010. Empire Challenge is an annual joint and coalition intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) interoperability demonstration designed to showcase emerging ISR capabilities, and improve joint and combined ISR interoperability to support war fighters in tactical scenarios. Our group investigates and determines the feasibility of different types of biometric identification such as facial recognition, ear recognition and gait recognition. Additionally, I have some experience with proposal preparation.
  • Raytheon
    Senior Multi Disciplined Engineer
    Raytheon 2005 - 2009
    Arlington, Va, Us
2005 to 2009Member of a team that conducted direct software analyses, algorithm development and system testing for an Air-to-Air missile system. Conducted research and development in Automatic Target Recognition using Synthetic Aperture Radar. This research involves investigating many different statistical, image processing and advanced signal processing methods to classify/discriminate ground targets in 2D SAR images. ATR involves various detection, discrimination and classification methods.
  • University Of Hawaii
    Post Doctoral Fellow
    University Of Hawaii 2003 - 2005
    Honolulu, Hi, Us
2003 to 2005Conducted research into Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays primarily using radio frequency technology. Assisted in hardware development, programming, testing and analysis for various detectors such as ANITA (Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna), GLUE (Goldstone Lunar, UHE neutrino Experiment) a large radio telescope in NASA's Deep Space Network and two molecular bremsstrahlung experiments at the Argonne Wakefield Accelerator (AWA) in 2003 and the Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC) in 2004. Helped develop software and setup the data acquisition system for a High Energy Cosmic Ray experiment at the University of Hawaii known as the Salt Factory. My group developed a Radio Frequency Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) digitizer board with eight channels per board for the Salt Factory. Familiar with the testing and/or the use of RF amplifiers, filters, many types of microwave commercial receivers in the C and Ku bands, as well as dipole, mono-cone, log periodic and horn antennas. Working knowledge of many analysis methods such as fast Fourier transforms, mathematical filters, wavelet analysis, simple neural networks, and statistical analysis. Perform data analysis using numerous software tools and programming languages such as C, C++, FORTRAN, and MATLAB. Setup compact PCI test stand for testing various digitizer boards and modified software so boards could talk to PCI crate.
  • University Of Kansas
    Research Assistant
University Of Kansas Jan 1998 - Jan 2003
    Lawrence, Ks, Us
Conducted research analysis involving the top quark all jets channel and a search for various new particles in the dijet mass spectrum at the Dzero experiment at Fermi National Laboratory. The results of the search for new physics in the dijet mass spectrum constituted my thesis work. Helped develop the reconstruction code for the Central Preshower detector at Dzero written in C++. Provided testing support for the Silicon Tracking Detector a major upgrade to the Dzero detector.
  • University Of Kansas
    Teaching Assistant
University Of Kansas Jan 1995 - Jan 1998
    Lawrence, Ks, Us
Taught basic physics and astronomy labs. This job developed my ability to explain scientificconcepts in a clear, concise meaningful manner to students.
  • Fermi National Laboratory Office Of Public Affairs
    Web Site Manager
Fermi National Laboratory Office Of Public Affairs Jan 1999 - Jan 2000
Updated and maintained the public web pages at the Fermi National Laboratory's main web site, which required knowledge of html. Participated in the planning for a major upgrade in the Fermi Laboratory web site.
  • U.S. Army
    Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer/Ordnance Officer
    U.S. Army May 1990 - May 1995
    Arlington, Virginia, Us
Worked in various positions such as Acting Commander of the 2nd Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Detachment, Executive Officer for the 2nd EOD Detachment and Staff officer at the 168th EOD Control Center. Explosive Ordnance Disposal is responsible for rendering safe conventional, Nuclear, Biological, and improvised explosive devices. To accomplish this mission knowledge of many types of munitions and explosive methods is required. Expertise in remotely disarming munitions requires the use of many different types of tools such as remote mechanical impact wrenches, robots, rocket wrenches, specialized nonmagnetic beryllium tools, remote portable x-ray devices, Geiger counters, body armor, remote wireless ignition devices, etc. As acting Commander, I was in charge of the welfare and safety of 18 soldiers and responsible for vehicles and equipment for five three man EOD teams. Our unit was responsible for destroying approximately 1 ton per day of cold war surplus munitions in Germany over 3 to months. This was accomplished with out accidents and with a limited number of personnel.
