Profile bio

About Christina Hoffman

I am currently working as a Mechanical Engineer for the ETO Integration Team at Intralox.I graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), MS and BS in Mechanical Engineering. Previously, I worked as a Lab Engineer for two years at the Army Research Lab, focusing on high temperature material testing and characterization. This characterization mainly included both optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS).During my graduate studies, I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Mechanical Engineering Capstone course at UMBC.During my undergraduate career, I had both research and industry experiences. I worked as a design engineering intern at Regal Beloit Corporation, creating and revising AutoCAD drawings and created complex models in SolidWorks for part fit testing for an important cost out project. I also worked on a project meant to increase safety and product quality by using oil to effectively decrease the tightening torque needed to properly tighten the bolts used for High Performance couplings. I learned valuable skills throughout this experience, such as Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), as well as skills communicating with other offices throughout the world. My undergraduate research experience consisted of an REU at Southern University of Baton Rouge (SUBR), as well as research at UMBC, and Johns Hopkins University. At SUBR, I designed, 3D printed, and tested composite small scale wind turbines for low power, personal use. At UMBC and Johns Hopkins, I created thermoelectric inks by using a dopant to make a polymer more electrically conductive and then adding thermoelectric powders to the mixture. I then tested the electrical conductivity as well as the thermal conductivity of these materials. I learned a lot through these experiences, but most importantly is the ability to perform testing on my own and effectively communicate results with a larger team to determine the next steps of a project. I have also worked as a teaching fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UMBC, for the Introduction to Engineering course. As a teaching fellow for this course, I held a weekly discussion and weekly office hours to supplement the course lectures and to answer any questions the students may have had.

Listed skills include Talent Management, Recruiting, Human Resources, Workforce Planning, and 16 others.
