Paul Rusesabagina was a hotel manager in Rwanda, who became a humanitarian after working at the Hôtel des Mille Collines in Kigali, Rwanda, where he hid and protected 1,268 Hutu and Tutsi refugees from the interahamwe militia during the Rwandan Genocide. In 2004, the film Hotel Rwanda was release with Rusesabagina portrayed by Don Cheadle. This foundation was developed to support peace, justice, truth and reconciliation in the Great Lakes Region of Africa and to help survivors and victims of genocide. I was honored to be his Executive Director, where I collaborated with American and foreign Ambassadors and politicians, organized conferences and developed funding strategies. During my tenure, I increased online donations by 35% by developing new marketing strategies, including the implementation of new social media tools. I also helped create the vision and mission of the Hotel Rwanda Rusesabagina Foundation, and routed funds of HRRF to provide educational assistance to the widows and orphans of the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Helped launch the campaign for an internationally sanctioned Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) for Rwanda and the surrounding African Great Lakes region. We provided visionary strategies to reconcile victims of the genocide and the upheaval thereafter to unite in a peaceful celebration of unity and commemoration.HRRF seeks to transform the Great Lakes Region of Africa to one of peace, prosperity and stability through a Truth and Reconciliation Commission for Rwanda and Burundi.

My love of photography started at an early age. I was lucky enough to travel the world from 1997-1998, documenting my trip through photography as a lasting memory. In fact, I was asked to volunteer my time as a photographer for Global Family Rescue, now called Kuza Project, which I happily accepted. Owning my own, in-home photography studio gave me the life balance and flexibility to be with my three boys and still earn a strong income to support my family. I had the pleasure of regular and repeat customers due to my willingness to go above and beyond client expectations, maintaining a strong ethic of reliability, accountability and complete customer satisfaction.

To ensure safety from the dangers of abuse and neglect, I provided rescue and detention services, and subsequent placement services to children and adolescents. I prepared detailed legal documents for the courts, law enforcement agencies, and the Department of Children and Family Services attorneys for all parties.My success in my role was instrumental in my promotion to Lead Trainer, where I assisted other social workers in finding successful techniques for their work. L. A. County Department of Children and Family Services has 6 primary goals: Improved Child Safety, Decreased Timelines to Permanence, Reduced Reliance on Out-of-Home Care, Self-Sufficiency, Increased Child/Family Well-Being Enhanced Organizational Excellence. I was honored with a Special Commendation for Excellence in Achievement and Performance & my work was featured on “48 Hours News with Dan Rather”, entitled “Behind Closed Doors – Inside Los Angeles’s Child Protective Services.”
