Christina Holt is an atmospheric scientist with a background in data assimilation and numerical weather prediction. She graduated from Texas A&M University with her PhD in 2014, where she worked with Dr. Istvan Szunyogh to implement an improved operation operator for QuikSCAT observations in an analysis and forecast system that generates global and regional ensembles in a consistent manner using the LETKF, a specific algorithm for efficient computation of the EnKF. Christina worked with the Developmental Testbed Center through NOAA/ESRL/GSD and CIRES when she left Texas A&M. Here she was involved with supporting, testing, and evaluating the Hurricane Weather and Research Forecasting (HWRF), Rapid Refresh, and NEMS-based GFS operational NWP systems. She has recently made her way back into data assimilation by exploring the exciting space industry with the all-star team of NWP folks at Spire Global, before returning to NOAA Global Systems Lab to become an active member of the UFS Community.
