With 14 years in education and 7 years experience as the principal of a high-needs turnaround high school, I am an impact-driven executive skilled in leading innovation and managing towards outcomes. I am now advising schools and communities on strategic planning and education transformation using a collective impact approach.Schools serve as community hubs, not only for education, but for multi-generational wraparound services including healthcare, housing, food, transportation, financial stabilization, childcare, and workforce development. In many ways, schools function with the policy imperatives of a government agency, the operational needs of a business, and the mission focus of a non-profit.In leading a best fit school for young people with barriers to education, I built expertise in how these systems and competing interests interact and how so many families continue to fall through the systems’ cracks. Alongside my team and stakeholders, I helped build and grow an innovative program model that expanded notions of how institutions can best support marginalized people while working towards ambitious community goals. Our work changed the life trajectories for hundreds of families and positively impacted the Indianapolis economy.I chose to leave the principalship to bring my equity lens and my strategic skill set beyond my school building to a systems-level leadership role.
