I’d be lying if I said I was always passionate about communications. I was always good at writing, but never thought a career would develop from that. Surely, my passion for understanding how the brain functions would lead me to a career in neuroscience or cognitive psychology. That's not what happened. I loved the sciences during my academic career (I still do!) so it was a natural fit to start working at a hospital right out of school. Before long, I found myself in a completely different, but just as interesting industry - one that builds homes for people like you and me. An unexpected opportunity presented itself, and I took it. I now create memorable experiences through words. Why the change? I call it being intellectually curious; to try innovative things, take on new responsibilities, shape them to my skill set, and push my boundaries in order to grow and develop my career into something that is uniquely mine. Now, I love promoting and defining our brand voice through creative and effective communications. I'm entranced with how we can elevate our brand experience; to curate smart, inspiring and engaging opportunities at every stage of the journey for our customers and employees. How? By captivating people in a way that piques interest and develops an emotional connection while delivering a message that is relevant, logical and most importantly, effective. I execute and implement amazing ideas that bring our brand to life in all areas of the business; taking projects to the next level with strategic planning, while showcasing my ability to adapt and roll with the punches. From writing and developing strategic internal and external communications, to promoting our company’s commitment to community, my day-to-day allows me to be creative, take risks, learn, grow and explore all while partnering with a diverse, cross-functional group of individuals at every level. So, although a role in communications was never a childhood aspiration of mine, my journey led me here and I can say, with certainty, that it’s the right path for me.
