I had the distinct pleasure of working with the Indigenous students of the Professional Project Administrator Program and a wonderful team at Royal Roads University's Professional and Continuing Studies.During my 15 months, I developed a Community of Practice for instructors and hosted events that contributed to the decolonization of the curriculum and integration of Indigenous Knowledge Systems into the program. I led the development of the evaluation/learning plan using Indigenous research and evaluation methodologies to discover program best practices for working with Indigenous learners. As part of this, I designed and implemented research into the personal and professional impact on non-Indigenous faculty who were learning and integrating Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing. I presented research on Instructor development in the Indigenization of curriculum and instruction at two national conferences. I also worked directly with students who struggled with elements of the program and pitched in wherever I was needed. Being part of the pride and happiness of the students who completed this program was its greatest reward.

Highlighting Carry the Kettle First Nation in Saskatchewan.Family Violence Prevention Program Case StudiesCase studies of family violence prevention programs in BC and Alberta with recommendations for INAC. Profiles of four women’s centres, their activities, funding sources, and problems highlighted.The Carold Institute for Citizenship and Social Change—Alan Thomas Fellowship ReviewDeveloped an in-depth qualitative impact evaluation. Measured the desired outcomes of the program with the actual organizational, personal, professional, and sectoral impacts. Key findings, recommendations, and participant profiles have been used by the Institute to inform the board and provide direction for future awards.

Worked with First Nation communities to form partnerships with business, government, and higher education through the development of capacities and relationships. Developed programming for community capacity building in three First Nations on Vancouver Island.Facilitated relationship development and coordinated workshops, stakeholder engagement, community development projects, and communication for cooperative learning partnerships between First Nations, businesses, local, provincial and federal government, and civil society. Developed all internal and external communications, including the training manual for this innovative project.

Developed a training and mentorship program for budding young entrepreneurs and business people. Partnered with government, private companies and communities to deliver the YouBET program in multiple communities on Vancouver Island. Under contract for the BC Provincial Government.
