About Christine Adrian

I am an 8th grade teacher as well as the Content Area Chair for my building. I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Adolescent Social Studies, have Masters Degrees in both Curriculum and Instruction as well as Educational Policy Studies. This year, I became one of four Distinguished Alumni for the University of Illinois' College of Education for 2016. I received an Award of Excellence from the State of Illinois for Teaching in 2012. I was the 2011/2012 Outstanding Middle School Social Studies Teacher of the year and I was the Illinois History Teacher of the Year for 2010, won Outstanding Mock Election Project for Illinois in the 2008 election as well as the Grand Prize Winner for the Lincoln Lesson Planning Contest for the History Channel. I believe in the power of Social Studies teaching in equipping children with the tools for understanding their world to become powerful critical thinkers that create positive change in our communities.
