Tow-tank experiments of model hulls: - Isolated individual wave slams on a towed model at planing speeds in both regular and irregular head seas - Correlated high-speed photography with simultaneous pressure, acceleration, heave and pitch measurements- Explored the effect of scaling through the use of two model scales (1/5th and 1/10th)Vertical Drop Tests of Prismatic Wedge:- Designed a test program for a free--falling, symmetric, prismatic wedge into calm water- Correlated the pressures on the bottom surface with the spray root and motions of the wedgeTeaching and Mentoring:- Mentored midshipmen on independent research projects- Co-taught an undergraduate Dynamics course in Naval Architecture

Underwater Implosion and Explosion Experiments:- Imploded thin-walled metallic cylindrical tubes in high-pressure water by over--pressure and explosions (UNDEX)- Proved that mode 2 implosions (where the final cross section becomes flat) generate pressure waves that scale only with fluid properties and not structural properties when measured at the same non-dimensional positionExperiments of Wave Impacts on Rigid Structures:- Measured the water surface elevation over time (using Laser-Induced Fluorescence) for different cube positions relative to the breaking position of the wave- Determined that in the flip--through region, the evolution of the surface between the cube and the wave crest is not affected by the position of the cubeServed as a Teaching Assistant for the following courses: Undergraduate Fluid Dynamics and Dynamics and Graduate Fluid Dynamics. As part of the Future Faculty Program, I was given the unique opportunity to give several course lectures in the class in which I was a teaching assistant.

Worked on Fluid Dynamics experiments with Code 6185 (Combustion Dynamics) under Dr. James Fleming.Measured droplet size and velocity distributions for water mist fire suppression systems using Phase-Doppler Anemometry (PDA).Assisted in setting up Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) system used to study the physics between the water drops and flame.
