Hi, I've been working as a Sterile Tech since 2000. I trained at a little hospital in Northern Sydney called Dalcross. There I did Cert II Sterilisation through OTEN. I enjoyed the course and later studied Lab Diploma Environmental Biological Testing at Newcastle TAFE 2005. Working in labs seemed as pressurised as working in CSD with similar start out pay, So in my mid 20s I returned to Sydney broke and worked at a few hospitals doing full time Sterilisation and block booking Agency Sterilisation jobs. In 2007 I moved to the Central Coast and Started Sterilising at Gosford Private while starting my family. In 2016 I completed Cert III Sterilisation. I'm now a Senior Technician at Gosford Private. I enjoy working in Sterilisation within a multidisciplinary team environment and mentoring new Technicians as they come through the department. I think it's important to know why we do what we do as Sterile Techs, producing and continually providing Sterile products to standard. This year will see me completing Cert IV Sterilisation Technology through Australian Nursing Midwifery SA Education online. I'm looking forward to my studies.
