Private Forest Management Consulting. Many private forest owners need guidance on current forestry management requirements, updated since their last plan. Some plans are more than 30 years old and states like Washington require renewed and updated plans. I provide site surveys and updated plans in consultation with private forest owners. Most recently on Orcas Island, Washington.

I designed and taught lower and upper level courses (14+) for majors and non-majors. Developed a funded study abroad program for undergraduates. Assessment and design of major and minors to meet SHEV standards. Several state awards for course development as well as a cross-disciplinary research study. Served as major advisor.

Livelihood Vulnerability Assessment for Country of Swaziland. Used quantitative and qualitative indicators for statistical and geospatial analysis of past and current drought impacts and forecasting for future possible events.

UN World Food Programme Lead for Interagency Assessment of Food Security for the country of Zimbabwe. Wrote surveys, trained survey teams, analyzed survey results, reported and presented current and potential future outcomes dependent upon drought and country specific conditions.

Coordinator for the Southern African Humanitarian Information Management center. Designed programming, coordinated information sharing between UN and partner agencies, wrote weekly situation reports. Hired skilled staff, directed and managed work output, analyzed data. Reported analytical results bi-weekly and as requested to senior management at UN and partner agencies. Reported to New York headquarters. Based in Johannesburg. Frequent regional travel.

Conducted research on Climate Change effects and possible future impacts on food security and livelihood systems in the Southern Africa region. Quantitative, qualitative, and spatial analysis. Thesis: Climate Change Adaptation and Rural Livelihood Dependence on Resource Access in the Limpopo Province.

Fellow at IIASA, Austria. Conducted research on local and regional flood hazard risks and mitigation policies as well as future impacts of climate change. My research focused on how societies plan and mitigate risks in urban and semi-urban areas, particularly for communities most adversely impacted due to variable vulnerabilities related to nature and or society planning and policies.
