I hired on here as paralegal to Jack Martzell and my work with Jack was strictly in the area of white collar crime. After his untimely death in 2007, I stayed on with the firm and presently assist in the pursuit of asbestosis and mesothelioma claims and work on other personal injury cases. I do all types of research on work sites. I summarize medical records, research disease processes, draft Medical Review Panel submissions, and , and am involved in MDL settlement cases such as the Depuy Hip Implant, Nuvaring, etc. My work of course also includes the various and sundry duties of a paralegal, such as scheduling and summarizing depositions, drafting pleadings and discovery, responding to discovery, etc.

My work at this firm was primarily in the areas of State Court general litigation and family law and consisted primarily of research and writing briefs and memoranda, and responding to discovery for the four attorneys in the office, one of whom was Mary Devereux, now a presiding Judge in the 22nd JDC. The staff there came to rely on my knowledge and ability to find answers to their questions.

I worked under Forrest Hinton in the commercial litigation department focused on director and officer liability, antitrust violations, the WARN Act, contract disputes and intellectual property rights. I also worked in the maritime department on Longshoremen’s Workers Compensation cases. My duties included the organization and maintenance of voluminous records. My spreadsheet of employee benefits and wages of over 1,000 employees in the D.H. Homes WARN Act case was adopted by the USDC for the Eastern District of Louisiana and by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in their decisions. I also examined voluminous banking documents and prepared damage loan reports in connection with the defense of suits filed by the FDIC or the RTC against failed Banks or Savings & Loans.
