Christine Nikander is a social entrepreneur and an advisor on environmental, social, and corporate governance. She was featured in The Bloom’s 30 Under 30 Social Impact list in December 2024. As an expert in waste and circularity laws, she is also a member of the consortium that has been selected by the Directorate-General for Environment (DG ENV) of the European Commission for the “Framework Contract on the Circular Economy and Waste to Resources”.Christine studied law at the universities of Columbia (New York), Edinburgh (Scotland), and Leiden (the Netherlands). She regularly speaks and guest lectures on international and EU law, human rights, environmental law, circular economy, the just transition, corporate social responsibility (CSR), legal and business ethics, as well as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.Christine originally studied human rights and environmental law at university. She then started her career by working at a large corporate law firm. This is where she became an experienced drafter and negotiator of IP licensing agreements. After a few years in private practice, Christine discovered that she thoroughly enjoys working at the nexus of law, business, sustainability, and social impact — and that is what she has been doing ever since. Since 2020, Christine has founded three companies and started three non-profit initiatives.Christine holds both the Finnish and German nationality.
