Working with students from birth through grade 5 has expanded my skills through being responsible for supervising multiple staff members and collaborating with classroom teachers, related service providers, private service providers, and families. Developing, preparing, modifying, and implementing curriculum and standards based lessons to meet the needs of all students on my caseloads needs is a daily occurrence. Creating and organizing the schedules for each of my students and support staff is a role that requires great flexibility and creativity in order to ensure access to required supports and services. Being an active member of building leadership teams allows me to have a direct link in supporting and advocating for the inclusion of all students, develop and implement of building wide student and staff success plans, review and interpret data, and strategize how to make the desired changes, and be a voice for staff in our building to the whole district. Being an active member of the nonviolent crisis prevention and first aid support team has allowed for personal growth and an awareness of my ability to lead and meet others needs effectively during intense and unpredictable situations.

As the Early Childhood Special Education teacher my role was to plan and implement instruction to meet the individual needs of each of my students from birth-age 7 in their homes, daycares, regular preschool setting, elementary classroom, or within my self-contained classroom. Additional roles that were held include supervising and directing support staff, and collaborating with regular education staff, related service providers, families, and students private service providers . Being an active member of regional student support committees and the schools special education cooperative allowed for networking and expansion of resources. Completing evaluations, developing individual education plans, planning transportation routes (including being a substitute driver for my students routes), and advocated for the inclusion of my students were vital to the growth of students, staff, community, and myself.

In this role I was the lead toddler room teacher and completed lesson planning, prep, communication with families, and collaboration with student service providers. I supervised 3-5 different assistants during this time and collaborated with many different staff members from with our company and within the college setting we were located in. I had the privilege of supervising several early childhood practicum students.
