With formal training in Fine Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University, focusing on Communication Arts and Design, along with Photography, I got my professional start. Although, long before that I began as an artist, growing up in a family of artist, we were our own "colony," as it were. Formal training brought me along, learning a great deal at VCU. Discipline and skill brought me to learn to draw straight lines and to hone in on things like letter spacing and kerning with the skill of a consumed, gimlet-eyed peregrine with OCD. This has served my profession well in the publishing field, as I worked many years in graphic design and art direction. During a year in between jobs, I began to go feral and get my stripes back by returning to my earlier, perhaps freer roots of fine art, photography and writing. This hiatus has brought about revelations that only expand my knowledge and desire to continue with my art, although only part-time now. I consider myself a multidisciplinary, experimental artist and enjoy delving into new projects, trying out new techniques and materials.
