My role included the following: Delivering a series of Super Learning Days for both English Language and English Literature; Delivering departmental training;  Writing schemes of work for both English Language and English Literature; Curriculum and assessment mapping for KS3 and KS4; Creation of a monitoring system for HS3 and KS4; Teaching two crucial year 11 classes.

In my role I:- Delivered regular departmental training for both GCSE and A Level- Designed and taught programmes of study for AS English Language and English Literature OCR- Designed and taught programmes of study for AS and A2 English Language and English Literature - AQA Syllabus B- Supported in the introduction of a Sixth Form to the new Academy- Advised in the implementation of Literacy across the curriculum- Managed the completion, marking, moderation and submission of CAs for Year 11 Edexcel GCSE when Year 11 were on different sites due to amalgamation of schools.- Managed the completion, marking and submission of the whole of Year 10 for English Language GCSE Edexcel- Taught top set Y11 - who achieved excellent results in both Language and Literature- Taught two C/D borderline Y10 classes - who achieved excellent results in their Language exam.- Devised and provided all staff with schemes of work for Edexcel CA and examination preparation.- Delivered regular revision and intervention sessions, after school, and in holidays for both GCSE and A Level students.The school achieved 67% A*-C grades for Year 11 in June 2013 - a major achievement.Extra Curricular:Supported and a residential trip to London for Y12 students.Organised regular theatre trips for Y11 and Y12.Introduced the Arts Award for Y10 and Y11.

In 2012, when the examination borderlines were altered, we still achieved a further 7% increase, attaining 75.5% A*- C.We achieved this through following a fully inclusive approach to the 2010 curriculum changes where all students were entered for both GCSE English Literature, and English Language. As part of our inclusion policy, we took the whole of Year 11 to Poetry Live, as well as taking all 168 of them to see 'An Inspector Calls' at Newcastle Theatre Royal as part of their GCSE revision.I also organised: - Residential trip to London for Y10 and Y12 students. - Regular theatre trips for Y12.- Reading Group for Y12 with a focus on Russian Literature - Introduced the the Arts Award to Y10 and Y11

At Barbara Priestman Special School:- I conducted staff training for non specialists- I created an English curriculum to support the raising of expectations of the special needs students. I taught:- GCSE English Literature and English Language- Entry Level- GNVQ Communication to Y12. The curriculum was differentiated to accommodate the huge range of the needs of the students. The special educational needs included extreme physical disabilities, autistic students, students high on the spectrum with Asperger's Syndrome, as well as a class of students with EBD who could not manage in mainstream education. The students highly achieved both academically and personally. Their GCSE academic achievements were highly commended, as was their performances in the Speaking and Listening scrutiny by AQA.I also organised a series of cinema and theatre trips to ensure the students with the special needs accessed a range of cultural experiences. Most memorable was the visit by the outreach theatre group No Limits.
