Christine's passion is to support young people to be the very best they can be. She has over twenty-five years of experience as an English teacher, school leader and consultant at primary and secondary level. Christine has also led creative and successful initiatives at a range of educational institutions, including secondary schools in London and the North East, sixth form colleges, primary and special schools. Since 2013, as Director of Everything English Education, Christine has successfully delivered English and literacy based consultancy services across the UK.Christine is Chief Executive Officer of Building Self-Belief CIO, a charity founded in 2018, which gives vulnerable young people in socio-economically deprived areas the opportunity to take part in team building, arts, careers based and emotional well-being programmes. She advocates that in intervening early and building self-belief, you can prevent the development of mental health issues.Christine was on the management committee of the National Association of Teachers of English (NATE). At Barbara Priestman Special School:- I conducted staff training for non specialists- I created an English curriculum to support the raising of expectations of the special needs students. I taught:- GCSE English Literature and English Language- Entry Level- GNVQ Communication to Y12. The curriculum was differentiated to accommodate the huge range of the needs of the students. The special educational needs included extreme physical disabilities, autistic students, students high on the spectrum with Asperger's Syndrome, as well as a class of students with EBD who could not manage in mainstream education. The students highly achieved both academically and personally. Their GCSE academic achievements were highly commended, as was their performances in the Speaking and Listening scrutiny by AQA.I also organised a series of cinema and theatre trips to ensure the students with the special needs accessed a range of cultural experiences. Most memorable was the visit by the outreach theatre group No Limits.
