As a laboratory instructor of Anatomy and Physiology, I was required to have attention to detail and an in-depth understanding of the techniques used during my lab sections in order to pass that knowledge on correctly. In addition, I needed a strong understanding of the concepts being covered by these experiments and the ability to communicate them effectively to pass on that knowledge to the student in my labs.

After my first year of science at UPEI, I lobbied for the creation of an extra help center for introductory biology students. Other sciences had similar programs, but I felt that the Biology department could also benefit from having a similar tool for students.As such, I responsible for providing further instruction on any topic from the introductory biology lectures that students requested help with. This involved continuing to attend lectures (in addition to my own classes) in order to maintain an in-depth knowledge of the course content, followed by my own presentation of that material in a different setting.This supplemental instruction was delivered normally in individual or small group sessions a few times a week; however, prior to midterms and exams, these groups sometimes swelled up to fifty students at a time, requiring work within amphitheaters.
