With over 20 years of experience in the arts and culture sector, I am an enthusiastic leader, educator, and facilitator. I am a dedicated arts management professional with a proven commitment to inspiring leadership, meticulous program management, and effective stakeholder collaboration. My passion for the arts, arts education and extensive experience have shaped my practice, emphasising a collaborative and inclusive approach that fosters open communication, motivation, and support within my teams. I thrive in managing complex programs, gallery operations, public art and capital works projects ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. I am an active participant in networks in local government and international museums and galleries sectors to maintain awareness with current with industry trends and best practices that drives continuous improvement. My values are rooted in integrity, authenticity, adaptability, and a positive, proactive attitude, all of which guide my mission to create transformative arts and culture experiences for diverse communities. Having experienced the transformative power of connecting people with art in galleries and museums, I value divergent thinking and am passionate about creating high impact art experiences for the people who visit (especially with their school) and would otherwise not get to experience art in gallery and museum settings. I introduced Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) to Australian galleries and museums in 2011 and VTS School-Gallery partnerships at Heide Museum of Modern Art in 2013. Trained and coached VTS facilitators including numerous classroom teachers, museum and gallery staff at Heide, MUMA, Artspace Mackay QLD, Bendigo Gallery of Art, Mildura Art Centre, Public Galleries Association Victoria (PGAV) and at the Incinerator Gallery in Melbourne’s West. My PhD research 'Crisis or opportunity: an exploration of art museum educators’ practice in Australia and the United States' conducted at RMIT University, enabled me to research the practices and pedagogies of educators working at two art museums in Australia and one in the United States. Framed by the perspective of my own experience as a classroom, gallery and museum educator, my findings enhanced understandings of visitor and learner engagement and to advocate for advancing art education practices within Australian museums.
