About Christine Powell
Since 2018 I have been the proud owner of a small vineyard (Heron Farm) in East Devon. Two years after acquiring the site (and after a crash course in viticulture!) we diversified by establishing a hospitality venue on site, consisting of a daytime cafe and shop that also operates successfully as a space for private events. Having never run a business before, the initial years have been an incredibly steep learning curve with many lessons learnt. Nonetheless, despite all the challenges thrown at us by Covid, and then the economic issues affecting everyone, I am proud to be able to say the business is growing steadily, now employing over 20 people. Prior to this venture, I worked in the technology transfer sector for the University of Edinburgh. With a strong (PhD level) life sciences background, I am experienced in identifying, evaluating and commercialising IP from both the research and healthcare sectors, as well as in encouraging and managing the interaction of academic researchers with industry partners (including negotiating commercial agreement such ). I also have knowledge and experience of the drug development process and the pharmaceutical sector.Specialties: viticulture, hospitality, small business management, business development, contract management, IP, project management, market analysis, funding analysis, understanding clinical and scientific data, communicating with academics, healthcare and pharmaceutical industry professionals. Expertise in life sciences and healthcare industries.
Listed skills include Market Analysis, Pharmaceutical Industry, Clinical Research, Lifesciences, and 15 others.
