Because I first got successful as a touring songwriter and performer (see below), what follows is an unconventional business description. (Apologies to stodgy necktie types.) Uplevel You was unexpectedly born out of people asking me “how did you make all this happen?” after my performances. In response to their questions, I created an online mindset and self-coaching training called Uplevel Your Life®. Then, because people kept asking, I created another training called Uplevel Your Business® ...a step-by-step process of clarity, marketing, list-building, selling and internet strategy. My Uplevel peeps - freelancers, solo business owners, quickstarts, creatives (secretly disorganized high-achievers) got results when they could never get results before. I spent 15 years as a professional musician, record label and self-managed touring songwriter. I wrote hundreds of songs, and sold over 100,000 copies of 7 CDs released on my own indie label, Firepink Music. Career Highlights: Quit my cubicle job at Ogilvy & Mather and moved to Asheville, NC in spite of warnings from everyone in my life that I would fail miserably. Performed over 250 dates per year on tour.Shared stages with John Mayer, Nanci Griffith, Los Lobos, Shawn Colvin, Dar Williams, the Beach Boys, Richard Thompson, Richard Shindell and many many other luminaries. “Rain & Mud & Wild & Green” (2002) was named Best Folk CD by Borders Books & Music. Toured with two different national dance companies that choreographed ballets to my music. Won the prestigious Telly® award for concert DVD, “Live at the Diana Wortham Theater.” My song “Right Outta Nowhere” was recorded by country star Kathy Mattea.
