About Christine Kouri, Bscn, Mha

Christine developed and is not providing oversight to Canada’s National Newcomer Navigator Network, which promotes equity for newcomers in accessing and experiencing health and social services, both as patients as well as internationally educated health professionals within the workforce. This role builds upon her experience in ensuring health equity within the acute healthcare sector and clinical background. Over her career in healthcare, Christine has a proven track record for implementing system level change which not only identify but also address root causes of system level inequities. Successes include, the longest-lasting family advisory council known, an engagement framework for meaningful partnerships with patients/families, a newcomer navigator position to respond to the mass arrival of Syrian refugees, a health equity & diversity framework including an Indigenous Circle to address the TRC Calls to Action at the organization level, and unique cost-effective models to support the interpretation and spiritual needs of the families. Christine's successes are attributed to her practical approach to incorporating the unique perspectives of those with lived experience and service providers in co-design towards consensus building, housed within qualitative and quantitative metrics.Christine graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and from Ottawa University with a Master's in Health Administration.
