With over 20 years of work experience in the nonprofit sector, I have developed strong skills in marketing communications, partnership development, and strategic communications. As the VP of Community Development at Lake Trust Credit Union, I led the business development, public relations, community engagement, and government affairs initiatives, as well as the Lake Trust Foundation, which supports local causes and organizations. Previously, I worked as the Program Services Manager at Make-A-Wish Michigan, where I coordinated the fulfillment of wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses. I was also Founder or Susan G. Komen Mid-Michigan and later became Executive Director, where I oversaw the fundraising, communications/PR, operations, and advocacy efforts for breast cancer research and education managing a seven county service area and a $1.2 million budget. During my tenure, the organization grew from serving three to seven counties and we were able to invest more than $7 million in breast health and breast cancer programs and national breast cancer research. The 2012 Komen Mid-Michigan Race for the Cure is still the largest 5K Run/Walk in the area, drawing more than 7,000 participants.My core competencies include developing and executing effective communication strategies, building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders, and managing and motivating teams. I am passionate about making a positive impact in the communities I serve, and I am always eager to learn and grow as a leader and a communicator.
