This summary is longish because I work on the broadest view of what IS learning: Anytime, Anywhere, Anyone, Any age. Work, Rest and Play. Lifewide. So I have to ignore divisions such as school/work, children/adults, young/old, serious/fun - don't I?CONNECTING LEARNERS WITH LEARNING BY:1. Online Curriculum AdviserLink2Ict, Service Birmingham Oct 2004 - Aug 2012Link2Ict, Service Birmingham, West MidlandsMy role was curriculum adviser for online content to Link2ICT, Service Birmingham (a Birmingham City Council/Capita Group strategic partnership). My main focus was the online content for the Birmingham Grid for Learning website (bgfl.org) for Birmingham teachers and learners. Receiving approximately 1 million unique page views per week, BGfL website is widely regarded as a national leading reaching and learning website for uptodate, innovative, rich and engaging content.I have particularly enjoyed planning and creating content that supports both teachers’ and learners’ current needs to cope with today’s demands – and planning how best to meet their future ones. Learning is going mobile, visual, connected and learner-centric. I think educational online content should do so too.Underpinning content creation and delivery was the development of a BGfL-specific content strategy, focused both on meeting BGfL’s core objectives and its users’ diverse needs in an increasingly demanding world of education. Therefore, I enjoyed both contributing to an up-to-date, relevant content strategy for the website and other online content – and providing content strategy training for clients as soon as they commission a website with us.Inevitably, 21st century learning developments online for school-age learners are connecting to other age-groups and other aspects of life, ensuring a continuous evolution of job role during my time at Link2ICT. The most recent areas of development iincluded 21C elearning for employability projects, elearning research projects and innovative uses of social media to transform learning for children and adults. So where was I in all of this? If lifelong learning is based on construction (of new knowledge), conversation (learners-learners, learners-teachers, other) and control (owning one's learning), then I want to be where that's most likely to happen: Online Socially Networked Learning Spaces.
