In May 2024 I was appointed to be a Member Nominated Director of the Co-op Group, this is a position elected by the members to represent them on the board. I was chair of Assured Food Standards, which most know as Red Tractor, but stepped down to avoid any perceived conflict between these two roles. I also chair MDS Ltd, a 2-year management training scheme in the food industry for graduates; and I chair the BBC Rural Affairs Committee. I am a trustee of the Farmers Club Charitable Trust and run Women in Food and Farming, a network which meets regularly and runs events to both encourage young people in the industry and for us all to help each other in our careers. Up to 2020 I was a government regulator responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Groceries Supply Code of Practice by large grocery retailers, who are designated by the Competition and Markets Authority, in their dealings with direct suppliers and was also a Director of the AF Group Ltd, a £250m purchasing co-operative for agri-businesses after 9 years in office.I am a Chartered Engineer with 12 years’ experience in sales and marketing (Mars, Anchor, Vodafone), I ran the Co-operative Group’s farming business, the largest in the UK, for 11 years.
