Fashion design & merchandising, graphics arts, interior design, journalism & photography were all interests in college. Once I found that the advertising dept. was the only paid position on the college newspaper I settled on graphic arts. Since 1982 I have worked for a newspaper, a radio & a TV station and 3 sign companies. It doesn't matter if you are working in column inches for a newspaper or in square feet for a billboard, good effective design is just that. Designing & implementing successful sales programs & advertising campaigns in California, then building all types of signs, wayfinding systems and logo designs in Oregon for 100's of small and large businesses has been a rewarding career while raising three wonderful children.A creative door was opened for me when I learned how to sew at 12, then growing nine inches in four years, I started modeling. 1000's of yards of fabric later, clothing design & fashion are still a passion. Creating women's skirts by color blending men's silk neckties keeps my creative side satisfied. Always avoiding 'cookie-cutter' outfits, I explored thrift shops & antique stores, enjoying the thrill of the hunt for the perfect match. Drawn to the quality fabrics and workmanship of vintage clothing & accessories, kept me coming back. While managing a vintage clothing boutique I found great pleasure in helping people in their search for similar treasures. I realized I had found my niche! With my parent's inspiration & the help of my family, I opened 'Then Again Classic Fashions' on 12/12/12 in Salem. Happily helping people express their individual style, while sharing the history of & giving new life to great vintage clothes and accessories. Now, while looking for a new location for Then Again, I have been enjoying the flexibility of being a retail merchandiser. This position has taken me into almost every store in the Willamette Valley, seeing the inner workings of these businesses has been a great education.
