About Christo Nel
My passion is to contribute to the development of individuals and teams to fulfil their leadership potential. Since the mid 1980s I have had the privilege to work with thousands of people in leadership roles – from the shop floor to the executive boardroom; from people studying a MBA degree to seasoned CEOs running major organisations. This lifetime journey of involvement in leadership development has made me appreciate the rich diversity of leadership styles and perspectives, and the reality that there is no one-size-fits-all formula for sustainable high impact leadership. The greatest challenge is rather for individuals to explore and reveal who they are as leader – and to grow into their personal authentic leadership. I have had the good fortune of investing a life time of work in this great field of learning.The Chinese seer, Confucius, said, “Find what you love to do and you will never work again.” This is certainly true for me. As I enter into my early eldership my commitment to contributing to the optimum development of people as leaders is perhaps more fresh and energising than ever before. As I enter into my sixties I have the joy of being involved in MBA programmes and other business degrees at universities in South Africa and Europe, and of providing customised leadership development for select clients.When I was walking the Camino de Compostella in 2011, I committed myself to “work with wisdom” – only doing work where I may grow greater personal wisdom; offer wisdom; and share wisdom. There are probably one or two more books within waiting to be written. The opportunity to participate in the development and implementation of personal leadership development programmes that form an integral part of business degrees offers almost another lifetime of experience and engagement with people who will offer stewardship for the coming generations.
