Leading the early clinical development team conducting phase I to II trials with novel cell and gene therapeutics moving from the preclinical phase into the clinical development.

The Clinical Study Core Unit of the Study Center Bonn is located at the University Hospital Bonn and assists and supports the planning, preparation and conduct of clinical studies of all phases and regulatory backgrounds in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and all applicable laws. The Clinical Study Core Unit belongs to the KKS network. Our services include project management/ monitoring/ safety management/ biometry/ data management/ preclinical development/ immunotoxicity testing. On a specialized phase I ward we support and conduct phase I studies in healthy volunteers as well as patients.Before building up and leading the Clinical Study Core Unit, I worked as physician in the Department of medical Oncology, University Regensburg. Then I changed to the Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Pharmacology building up the Clinical Study Core Unit as trial supporting infrastructure for the University Clinic Bonn.My research interest is to develop novel treatment options for cancer and infectious diseases by influencing the innate immune system. With basic science, preclinical development and clinical trials coming together in our institute and trial unit my interest is to bring novel approaches to the patients. Beside immunology I am interested in projects working on clinical trial methodology.
