My long-standing interest resides in interactions between pathogenic microorganisms and host cells. Host-pathogens interaction is a multi-disciplinary field, requiring a broad knowledge in cellular biology, microbiology and immunity. The transition from PhD to my postdoctoral position was particularly rewarding because I had the opportunity to actively participate in the establishment of the new laboratory of Doctor Priscille Brodin and a cutting edge HTS facility available in BSL3 laboratory. Through my work on host factors involved in Mycobacterium tuberculosis intracellular survival and my participation in projects to develop novel anti-tuberculosis drugs, I extended my expertise beyond cellular microbiology to macrophage physiology, drug discovery and Tuberculosis immunity. I then joined the team of Professor Roland Brosch at the Pasteur Institute of Paris, where I gained knowledge in the genetics of mycobacteria. In 2017, I then joined the laboratory of Doctor Maximiliano Gutierrez at the newly established Francis Crick Institute settled in London. I am currently studying the zoonotic aspects and the establishment of extra-pulmonary form of tuberculosis (https://www.crick.ac.uk/research/find-a-researcher/christophe-queval). During these amazing years, I successfully completed multiple projects and led the drafting of several publications, gaining a valuable reputation in the field of tuberculosis research. The close collaborations between my host institutions with various pharmaceutical companies has stimulated a growing enthusiasm for the private sector. I ambition now to build on my scientific knowledge and skills to thrive in the private sector through the management of biological and biomedical projects.
