Promotes management skills, staff skills and morale, and client outcomes by providing training, coaching and organizational consultation in settings such as Georgia Department of Mental Health, Hawaii State Hospital, Japanese National Research Center on Neurology and Psychiatry, UCLA and many agencies in California. Leadership Education and Development Program. 2009 to 2015.Created and managed the Leadership Education and Development program and supervised the consultants, who provided internal management consultation and led cohorts of new managers through a series of courses, individual and group coaching and supervised practice. This program reduced turnover and saved $65 million over 12 years at Pacific Clinics.Founder and Director. Pacific Clinics Training Institute. 1996 to 2015.Founded and directed a behavioral healthcare training institute that became a regional leader with a $1 million budget. Designed curricula and taught the courses in the management, clinical supervision, law and ethics and trainer development tracks. Directed the design of core competency curricula in the psychiatric rehabilitation, case management, treatment of mentally ill substance abusers, and child/family therapy tracks. Hired, trained, and supervised faculty. Wrote and disseminated training materials.Director. Pacific Clinics East Outpatient. 1983-1996.Directed all elements of $600,000 outpatient mental health program. Program management achievements included exceeding revenue, quality and documentation requirements while remaining under budget every year, being selected to provide management training to managers, and having agencies send staff to learn from our model programs. Program development accomplishments included increasing the budget by 80% by winning competitive bids from several funding sources and implementing new evidence-based treatments for schizophrenia, vocational rehabilitation and treatment and prevention of child abuse. Supervision achievements included having the lowest staff turnover in the organization and having many staff promoted to supervisory and administrative positions in other programs and agencies.
