However, I discovered teamwork is the key to success. Here is my story:I did not know basic general chemistry when I joined a synthetic organic chemistry lab. I worked hard in my first year and a half to grasp all of the techniques, chemistries, and data collections necessary to problem solve. During my first full-time summer internship, I became frustrated with the pace and called a team meeting with my freshly baked bread and a PowerPoint Presentation. I explained how the lab worked as six individuals doing the same thing, and I wanted to become a team. After everyone got on board, we changed our process, and in eight weeks, the lab completed an entire synthesis and attained the final target molecule for the first time in over a decade. Over the next year, we troubleshot the process and successfully isolated the pure version of our five target molecules. Show less
