Operations Manager for BFBS television (Multichannel broadcaster to the British Forces) and for Forces TV, a new 24 hour channel dedicated to the British Forces, broadcast on the Sky platform, free sat and Virgin.Responsible for operational staff and first line maintenance.Design and implementation of workflow.Media Management.

• Responsible for equipment and staff in Media Centre. Responsible for 10 channels broadcast by BFBS, four home-produced, four carriage and two delayed channels.• Project managed the operational side of the launch of two new channels.• Took responsibility of receiver cards and within a month had rationalised their use thus saving the company 33% on its card costs. • Rationalised media management of servers and introduced best practice, reducing server content by 20%-30% thus enabling launch of two new channels.

• Technical Director for Sky. Set up of studios (including HD Studios) and responsible for equipment and staff in said studios.• Consultant to SIS. Configuration and training on EVS (Hard disc based record and playback system). Improved their output by providing instant playback and slow-motion.• Editor (Avid, Quantel and Tape) for BBC, ITN, Millbank Studios, HBL Media and others.

• Implementation and troubleshooting of Digital Server Based system. This enabled the channel to go to air on the set date without problems.• Responsible for 40 gallery staff.• Built team spirit and turned gallery staff into a professional team (a number had never worked in broadcasting before). This was done in a period of four to six weeks. • When lease at Hayes ended, moved the whole studio to Teddington; the process was seamless on air.

• Consultant to TSR (Switzerland). Advised on implementation of Inspiration, the Quantel/Omnibus/AP integrated server based newsroom, editing and transmission system.• Trained TSR video editors. Turned a group of people who were antagonistic to the new technology into a positive and efficient team that coped with going open ended with the September 11th disaster two weeks after going live with the system. This was achieved in less than four weeks.• Edited Documentaries on Avid (for BBC and CH4), News on Avid and Quantel (for BBC, Central TV, Meridian TV, ARD, TF1 etc), Promos on Quantel (for ViaSat) and Corporate on Avid (for Lehman Brothers, HBL Media, the Media Trust etc).• Demonstrated Editbox in Hong Kong for Quantel to secure a sale of their “Inspiration” system

Channel 4 News Media Manager (1998-2000)• Implementation and trouble shooting of operational side of Inspiration which enabled Channel 4 news to operate more efficiently with less staff.• Set up operational procedures to take full advantage of the new technology.• Managed staff through upheaval of move to new studio and change in technology.• Helped staff to embrace new technology.• Responsible for 10 Editors and 2 Transmission Staff.• Managed Staff through periods of redundancy, so minimising disruption to work flow and keeping morale as high as possible.Channel 4 News Facilities Supervisor (1995-1998)• Responsible for 14 Editors and 2 Transmission Staff.• Travelled to more than 40 countries.
