I have been in private primary care practice since 2000. I am passionate about physicians being able to maintain their independence in private practice, to create a more personal doctor-patient relationship. Our office desires to remove barriers for acute and chronic needs for our patients.As a small business owner in healthcare, I enjoy the relationship that our staff to create a family atmosphere and foster a team approach to care for patients. It is also important to me that our business run efficiently and maintain financial stability to continue to provide employment to our staff. Through this, we can continue to offer competitive salaries and benefits not typically offered by private practitioners (401K, healthcare, etc). I also advocate for private practices to excel in providing access to quality healthcare, through technology adoption allowing for data exchange between patient, physician, and other healthcare entities to better care for patients. I actively participate in quality improvement initiatives within the healthcare space. I am not just an advocate of electronic record adoption, but efficient and effective use of the tools provided for electronic records. This can make healthcare work faster, more efficient, and reduce financial burden to both patient and the overall healthcare system.Finally, I have a concern for the care provided to people during their final days of life. With the realization that aging and unfortunate illness will result in the end of all our lives, allowing care and compassion is imperative. Looking at the team approach for both care for the patient; love and care for the loved ones walking through this transition period as their family/friend will pass away one day soon; and the comfort and care for a patient to maintain their dignity and comfort. Realizing that one day, even I will be at the receiving point of "my last breath" drives me to care for others as I desire to one day be treated.
